Melbourne’s hottest new Rockabilly outfit 'The Flaming Mongrels' bring a fresh new sound to the Rockabilly genre.

With the incredible styling’s of Gary Watling on guitar, Joel Plymin and sax and pinup vixen Miss Jessi Leigh on vocals, this fresh new band will have dance floors jumpin' and the music aficionadas in awe.

Jessi Leigh returns to the stage after a long break from giging, in a completely new genre. No stranger to the Rockabilly scene, Jessi has been making a name for herself through her appearances in the Pinup community as well as her label Miss Kiss Vintage, however most will recognise a much rougher version of her from her many years fronting hard rock outfit Point 9. Trading in her leathers for petticoats and her G'n'R covers for Johnny Cash, she is thriving in this new chapter of her music career.

Gary Watling

Joel Plymin is Melbourne’s gun Tenor Sax player on the Rock n Roll circuit.
Joel has played with almost everybody on the scene and is the Tenor player for Australia’s top Neo Swing band: Frankie Wants Out; whom have toured with ‘Big bad Voodoo Daddy’ and ‘Cherry Poppin Daddys’ among others. As well as fronting his own original Blues outfit: ‘Joel “Reed” & them Blues Cats.
The Sax is a crucial part of any Rockabilly outfit and with Joel’s Loud and Fat sound, screaming altissimo and ability to absolutely burn over a 12 bar, there is no one who cooks like this cat (or should I say mongrel…)
