Mares + Pansy present a Friday night double-bill spectacular at the Post Office.
Mares are a four piece downbeat band influenced by post-punk, rage and electronica. Formed in East Brunswick backyards and nutted out in bedrooms and lounge rooms amongst paint, tape recorders and vinyl, Mares' music evokes images of leafy ‘burbs, pubs, and rain-wrecked couches on verandas. The songs somehow tap the futility of inner Melbourne life yet brim with a unique kind of feminine power.
Pansy is a new band based in the chilly northern suburbs of Melbourne. Comprised of a duo of singer-songwriters; Anna Davidson of shimmery Brisbane outfit Major Leagues and Fergus Miller formerly of Melbourne lo-fi rock project Bored Nothing. Drawing comparisons to US groups like Carseat Headrest and Alex G their sound is 100% home made and full to the brim with gloomy bedroom-pop vibrations.
