Informed by world travels and other adventures, Melbourne’s Tim Guy has steadily mapped out a diverse catalogue that documents his unique evolution as a singer, songwriter and performer. There's the 2004 debut Blazey. 2007’s Hummabyes and 2010’s Big World - breathy blends of rustic folk, bluesy Americana and chiming indie rock.
2013’s country-laced Dreaming of a Night Mango followed by 2015’s lush full-band outing Chords, which Rolling Stone called “an open-hearted valentine to power-pop”. - are his most acclaimed albums yet. For all the restless variety, there's an all too rare balance between bright-eyed sincerity and playful self-awareness. From his twangy guitar playing and nagging melodies to his warm and grainy everyman vocals.
Each album has been a bright-eyed reinvention of himself. Whatever is next, will only add more chapters to a richly rewarding songbook that listeners are continuing to discover and cherish. Tim Guy with a travelling band on Sunday, Oct 15th.
