Back from the Dead to scare off the winter Ghosts, Hecate will be warming the POH front bar, on Thursday 20th July. In a soltice line up that will stir even the Sun from its slumber they'll share the stage with RaceRage and Cunting Daughters. With their unpredictable thumbprints in Metal from Classical to Hardcore brand of lyricism and song, and recently performing at the sellout Rah Rah Retrospective (Sonic Agenda) , Hecate will entertain even the most sleepy ghosts and live folk too!
Cunting Daughters is the lovechild of an unholy trinity - Linda Blair from the Exorcist, Lydia Lunch and Hüsker Dü. The result is a post post punk/ no-wave assault of songs to purge and placate with a dreamy Xanax core. Cunting Daughters are Ruth McIver (guitar, voicebox, words), RUN LMC (bass, vocals) and Cameron Potts (drums). Collectively they are or have been in - NinetyNine, NQR, Mace, Baseball, Touching the Bees et al. The Daughters are super honoured to be opening proceedings for this fierce line –up.
Racerage is a Blak radical rapbrat spitting bars, breaking hearts and provoking your white fragility. This rapper based on Wurundjeri country, and has been described as "the future of Melbourne music". Their lyrical themes draw from their background in spoken word; focussing on the struggles, frustrations and interweb meme-ry of their lived experiences as a Blak non-binary queer. Their rhymes explore intersectional feminism, decolonisation, race issues and life in the queer bubble, sprinkled with relatable humour. Racerage collaborates primarily with other QTIPOC beatmakers and artists and is excited about creating music within and about their communities.
