Tobias Hengeveld writes melodically vivid songs, riddled with unexpected angular pop-hooks. His distinctively sylvan voice rides personal experience with a wry lyrical candor. Playing his first full-band show in Melbourne since launching his acclaimed new release 'Naughts & Ones' - A mirror-maze of unabashed, snappy pop tunes, set in a hinterland of darker rock ballads.
Kate Alexander & Hana Brenecki’s collaborative songbook stretches its arms so broadly and hungrily around popular music of the past hundred years that it's impossible to describe; at times classically poppy, à la the Everly Brothers, at others a grungy sludge of distortion and yet at others, mournful and sparse country balladry. The harmonies of these two distinct voices delicately murmur and roar together, melded so closely at times that the lines blur as to who exactly is singing what.
