Sally Ford and the Idiomatics play songs of life, love and lived experience.
This newly formed trio from Melbourne fuses the musical provenance of its members … latin, electronica, ska, jazz, brass band, pop and funk.
Patrick Cronin and Michael Havir provide lush backing arrangements to Sally Ford’s wryly observed lyrics. The expansive sonic palette of keyboards, samples and electronica is enhanced by trombone, saxophone, flute and even a bit of old-fashioned whistling. Original tunes and freshly interpreted classics come together in this richly imagined musical experience.
These musicians bring to the Idiomatics their collective legacy of leading or performing with bands such as the ARIA-winning Melbourne Ska Orchestra, the Spaghetti Western Orchestra, Texicali Rose, Yothu Yindi, Sally Ford and the Pachuco Playboys, Joe Camilleri’s Black Sorrows, Ska Vendors, Skazz and Frank Yamma.
