Purple Matter is an improvised music collective inspired by jazz, electronic music and underground hiphop. Forming in late 2021, the group developed their unique approach to groove playing on compositions by Herbie Hancock, MF DOOM, Bob Marley, Parliament and Kendrick Lamar.

Purple Matter’s live shows draw on these influences as the band manipulates and combines existing song forms into something new.
