Butchulla Songman Fred Leone, live at the Postie, supported by legendary Melbourne producer and drummer Plutonic Lab.
The evening will take the audience through many different worlds, via the multiple talents of both Fred and Pluto. You will hear and experience songs that are ancient, and some that are brand new. This is a free show, and a family friendly event, so bring the kids for dinner and stay for the music.
Bananalands will be running a market stall with lots of merch, as well as raffles throughout the evening featuring amazing prizes.

Fred Leone
One of the Butchulla/Badjtala Songmen. Fred Leone comes from two distinctly different regions of so called Australia. Garrwa/Garawa which is located north, north west of Doomadgee across into the Northern Territory south of Boroloola. His family on the Butchulla/Badjtala side are Ngulungburra meaning Forehead of the Island from the Sandy Cape or the far northern tip of K’gari also known as Fraser Island. Fred’s fathers side of the family hail from Tonga and his maternal Great Great Grandfather and Great Grandfather were South-Sea Islander men from Gela and Tanna Islands. Fred’s role as a Songman sees him as one of a few speakers and custodians of their endangered language and traditional songs. Fred is also a multiple award winning music artists.
