Master songwriter James Wakeling and his band the Brothers in Law will be playing songs from the recent album the Song is Everything and the upcoming Ashes and Dust at the Post Office on Sat. 25 March. With world renowned sax player Rob Vincs, the always in demand Tim Nikolsky on bass and music royalty drummer Harry O’Mara plus guest vocalist Margot Leighton the Brothers in Law are a band that can reach across different styles bringing energy and humour to James’ insightful songs. Also on the bill is the Hornets Duo with singer/songwriter, author and historian Craig Horn and the ARIA Hall of Fame guitarist Jeff Burston. The duo have been mainstays on the Melbourne music scene for decades, as well as The Port Fairy Folk, Thredbo Blues, and Melbourne Music and Blues Festivals with a line-up that included Bob Dylan. And then there was a regular stint at James Wakeling’s Sth. Kingsville venue, The Famous Blue Raincoat throughout the mid-2000’s. Craigs pithy observations about modern life in the big city are presented in an authentic bluesy style that draws you right into the stories as they unfold. This will be a night of great songs and awesome playing.
