2Ten Gallon Head + The Golden Rail
Here’s a stellar double-header…
2022 will see Melbourne’s slow-gestating pop/country/psychedelic/glam/post-punk/mish-mash-merchants, Ten Gallon Head (TGH), return from obscurity with a new record, some new sounds, and a new line-up.
Ben Mellonie (guitars, vocals, songs), Ewan McCartney (drums) and Damian Hooper (bass) are joined by new keyboard-man Wez Prictor, whose knowledge of the 61-88-note matrix is so vast it can’t be written. Starting from a roots-informed-post-punk base, TGH has veered into some new sonic territories, but retain their trademark riffs and hooks.
Joining TGH are ace songsmiths, The Golden Rail, whose musical history is peppered with some of WA’s most esteemed names in guitar-pop/rocknroll.
Now deep into the finishing touches of their highly anticipated third album, The Golden Rail have also managed to rehearse a curated selection from past and future releases and take to the stage for a handful of rare live appearances. This show will mark almost a full year to the day since the full lineup of the band last played live, so this grand mutual musical meeting of the minds with TGH is not to be missed.
